Frequently asked questions

How do I remove the password from a PDF?

Add the PDF, type its password and download unlocked.pdf. The new copy opens without a password.

Can you unlock a PDF if I forgot the password?

No. PdfDady never guesses, cracks or recovers passwords. Look in the email or message the file came with, or ask whoever sent it for the password.

What is the password for my e-Aadhaar PDF?

UIDAI sets it as the first four letters of your name in capital letters followed by your year of birth, for example SURE1990 for Suresh Kumar born in 1990. Use the name exactly as printed on the Aadhaar.

What is the password for my bank or mutual fund statement?

Each bank or registrar sets its own rule, often based on your name, date of birth, customer ID or PAN. The email that came with the statement usually explains it. For CAMS and KFintech statements, it's the password you chose when you requested the statement.

Why does it say my password is wrong?

Passwords are case-sensitive, so check capitals. Also check the format your bank uses, for example DDMM versus DDMMYYYY for a date of birth.

What are PDF restrictions?

Some PDFs open freely but are set to block printing, copying or editing. Unlock PDF can remove these on files you own or have permission to change.

Is it legal to unlock a PDF?

Unlock only your own files, or files you have permission to unlock. Removing protection from someone else's document without permission may not be allowed.

Is my PDF or password uploaded?

No. Unlocking happens in your browser. PdfDady doesn't upload the file or store or send the password.
