What you can do with this tool

  • Six positions

Top or bottom, left, centre or right, at a close, normal or far distance from the edge.

  • Four formats

1, Page 1, 1 of 10 or Page 1 of 10, in small, medium or large text.

  • Skip a cover, start anywhere

Frequently asked questions

How do I add page numbers to a PDF?

Add the PDF, choose the position and format, check the preview and download numbered.pdf.

Can I skip the first page?

Yes. Set From page to 2. The cover gets no number, and page 2 gets the first number.

Can I start at a different number?

Yes. Set First number to any value, for example 5 if this PDF continues another document.

Can I use “Page 1 of 10”?

Yes. Choose the Page 1 of 10 format. The total counts the numbered pages, plus the start number if you changed it.

What if a number covers text on my page?

Choose another position, or a different distance from the edge. The preview shows where the number will go.

I reordered pages. Do I need to renumber?

Yes. Numbers are part of the page once added. Reorder first with Organize PDF, then add the numbers.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The numbers are added in your browser and the file is not uploaded.
