How to print driving licence front and back on one A4 page

  1. Add the front and back

Choose a JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC image for each side, or a PDF such as a DigiLocker download. Each side is optional. If your PDF shows both sides on one page, press Use the same PDF page for the other side.

  2. Pick the PDF page and password

For a PDF with several pages, use Previous and Next to choose the page. If the file asks for a password, enter it. It is used only in your browser.

  3. Crop and position the card

Use Crop & position to select the card area on each side. For a PDF page, the crop starts on a card-shaped area the tool finds on the page; check it and adjust. You can rotate in 90° steps, and unlock the frame to crop freely.

  4. Choose card size and paper

Keep the standard 85.6 × 54 mm card size, or enter a custom width and height in mm. Pick A4 portrait or landscape, Top or Centre position, and the gap between cards.

  5. Check the preview

The live preview is drawn to scale. Each side shows an estimated DPI, with a warning if it may print blurry.

  6. Download or print

Download the PDF, or press Print to open it in a new tab. Print at Actual size or 100%, not Fit to page.

What you can do with this tool

  • Images and PDFs

Use JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC images up to 25 MB, or a page of a PDF. PDF pages are turned into a 300 DPI image, and password-protected files are supported.

Front and back sit on one A4 page with an adjustable gap and optional cut lines. Either side can be left out.

  • Crop it yourself

Select the card area with a card-shaped frame, or unlock it to crop freely. You stay in control of exactly what is printed.

  • Standard or custom size

Use the standard 85.6 × 54 mm, or enter any width and height in mm if your state's card differs.

  • Live preview and DPI check

The preview is drawn to scale, and each side shows its estimated print resolution, with a warning below 200 DPI.

  • Stays on your device

Everything runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded and there is no sign-up. Location data (EXIF/GPS) is removed from embedded JPEGs.

Frequently asked questions

What is the size of a driving licence card in mm?

Form 7 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules gives 85.6 × 54.02 mm, with a tolerance of ±2 mm. This tool defaults to 85.6 × 54 mm. If your card is an older or state-specific design, measure it and use a custom size.

How do I print a driving licence front and back on one A4 page?

Add the front and back, crop each side with Crop & position, check the preview, then download the PDF or print it. Both sides are placed on the same A4 sheet.

What is on the back of a driving licence smart card?

The Form 7 smart-card design puts details such as a QR code, the vehicle classes and the licensing authority on the reverse, so a copy usually needs both sides. Card designs vary between states and over time, so check your own card.

Can I use a PDF from DigiLocker or mParivahan?

Yes, you can add a PDF page. It is turned into an image at 300 DPI. If it has several pages, use Previous and Next. If it asks for a password, enter it. It is used only in your browser. We have not tested every state's file layout, so you select each card area yourself.

My PDF shows both sides on one page. What do I do?

Add the PDF as the front, then press Use the same PDF page on the back side. The tool suggests a starting crop on each card-shaped area it finds on the page (the first for the front, the second for the back). It is only a suggestion, so check both and adjust with Crop & position.

Will the printed card be the actual size?

Yes, if you print at Actual size or 100% scale. Fit to page or Shrink to fit scales the whole sheet and the card will no longer match the size you chose.

Can I drive with the printed copy?

A printed copy is not the original licence, and this tool does not make it one. For checks on the road, show the card or the record the authorities accept, such as in DigiLocker or mParivahan. Whether a copy is accepted elsewhere, and whether it needs self-attestation, is decided by the organisation asking for it.

Is it safe to share a copy of my driving licence?

Share only what is needed, and only with someone who needs it. The back carries a QR code that may contain personal details, so keep printed and digital copies safe.

Are my files uploaded, and is PdfDady a government site?

Nothing is uploaded: all processing happens in your browser, there is no sign-up, and the tool is free. PdfDady is independent and not affiliated with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Parivahan or any government body.
