Frequently asked questions

How do I extract text from a PDF?

Add the PDF. Its text appears in a box; copy it or download extracted-text.txt.

Why is no text found?

The PDF is probably scanned: its pages are pictures of text, not text. Getting text from images needs OCR, which PdfDady doesn't offer yet.

Does it keep tables and formatting?

No. You get plain text. Tables and columns become lines of text, and bold, fonts and images are not included.

Does it work with Hindi PDFs?

Yes, when the PDF contains real Hindi text. Some older PDFs use fonts that store letters in a non-standard way; their text may come out garbled.

Can I extract text from a password-protected PDF?

Yes, if you know the password. It is used only in your browser to open the file.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The text is read in your browser and the file is not uploaded.
